As for shocks and suspension, steer clear of it. Even the guys I ride with who have high dollar European bikes don't run them with suspension. There is enough flex in the frame that you don't need suspension. And the shocks they put on the China bikes are pure crap. But you can have a lot of fun on the China bikes.
